EML Format

I offer the tutorials freely to you for learning purposes.  I hope you find them useful.  As always, proceed at your own risk. Read through it first to see if you understand it and always follow them word for word, step by step. Do not rush or skip any steps.  I am only responsible for 'my' errors. *S*

The tutorials are for personal use only.  Please do not modify, redistribute in any manner, place in any collections on websites or CD's for profit or otherwise, link to, remove, or claim as your own any files from these pages.  If you'd like to refer to any of the tutorials, please just provide a link or email me for permission to use the entire tutorial.  All tutorials and graphics were created by me unless otherwise stated.  It's perfectly ok, and encouraged, to share the link with friends who might find them useful.

***This tutorial was written in/for Win98/98SE, but also applies to WinXP.  The boxes in the screenshots below will look different but the settings are the same.

Scroll down to #2 to convert your existing stationery to eml

1.  Saving the eml zipfile:

This is a new format for saving stationery.  Instead of having 3, 4 or more files to save, you only have one.  For all you 'stationery addicts' like me, the zipped or exe versions can fill your stationery folder very quickly.  You also run the risk of duplicate file names if you download stationery from all the great sites out there.

With the eml format, you can rename it and save to any directory (folder) you choose.  Just click or double click (depending on your settings) on the icon and Outlook Express opens and you are ready to compose your message.

When you want to delete a stationery, you don't have to 'guess' which files go with that particular stationery.  Simply right click on the and click delete.

The only disadvantage to the eml format is you cannot preview the stationery in the 'preview pane' of OE.

When you download the eml format it will be zipped.  As stated above, you can unzip to any folder.  Then navigate to the folder you saved to and choose your stationery.  The easiest access is to put a folder on your desktop.  To do this, right click on your desktop, choose New, Folder.  Name the new folder and you're ready to start saving!  I recommend you save the zipfile to your desktop.....the same as in the unzipping tutorial.....then you can easily delete it.

2.  How to convert your existing stationery to eml format

2a.  In your mailbox, open the desired stationery.

2b.  Tab to the body of the email and type 'Text goes here'.  This will 'set' the font and font color that matches the stationery (if you have downloaded the matching font.  I offer the font used in each stationery below the thumbnails).

2c.  Go to FILE/SAVE AS~~~~~NOT!! SAVE AS STATIONERY~~~~~

2d.  Type in the name.  There is a drop down menu at the top of the Save As box (black arrow pointing down) navigate to the folder of your choice and click SAVE.  You can create a new folder on your desktop for easy access.  To do this, right click on your desktop, choose New, Folder.  Name the new folder.

That's it!!!  Now you can clean up that 'bulging' stationery folder!  *S*
